As you most know we have 3 children very close in age.
2 of them are so close that they are in the same preschool class
and their birthdays are just 2 weeks apart.
When I get asked if they are twins the easy answer would be to just say yes. But I always feel like I'm not really truthful
when I give that answer so I say, "no, but their birthdays are two weeks apart."
Then they usually give me some odd expression and walk away.
It's okay. I just smile and move on.
So, my point is, they are not twins. In fact they are quite opposite in everything they do.
Yet, there is some magical connection between these two.
To say they are best buddies doesn't quite cover it.
I have a good example of something that happened the other day that does though.
We have bar stools at our counter that don't have any
backs on them. They are called saddle chairs and are one
of the most un-kid-friendly items in our house.
Every single kid has fallen off these chairs, backwards, multiple times. You would think they would learn to sit on
their bums, but no. They are always sitting on their knees, standing or in some other dangerous sitting arrangement.
On Sunday, Izzie was not following the proper seating rules and fell, hitting her head really hard on the wood floor.
It brought tears to our eyes just watching it.
Jason quickly scooped her up and checked to make sure she was ok.
She was screaming quite loudly.
Cooper, wide eyed, didn't quite know what to think.
Shortly after Jason got Izzie, Cooper's lower lip started to quiver and he too burst into tears.
I picked him up but you could tell his heart was breaking because his "little buddy" was in pain.
It was quite the scene.
Everyone is fine. Cooper I think has a constant lump on his head from falling, but his sister is okay and life is good again.
No, they are not twins, but they are connected at the heart and
meant to be together.
